Jennifer VanWagnen receives Golden Apple Award

Meadowbrook Elementary School principal, Jennifer VanWagnen, received a Golden Apple Award at the October 5, 2023 Board of Education meeting.

Vanwagnen was nominated by Heather Issers, a Meadowbrook Elementary parent, for how well she jumped in and acclimated to her role as principal.

“Mrs. VanWagnen is such a kind person and deserving of this recognition,” said Issers.

VanWagnen is dedicated to her students through various interaction and acts of caring. She works with parents when she’s concerned about a student’s well-being, sets examples, and follows though. VanWagnen seeks out ideas from other educators, as well as parents, and is motivated by her drive to for all children to be supported and succeed.

“Mrs. VanWagnen has been a wonderful addition to the Walled Lake family,” said Walled Lake Consolidated Schools’ deputy superintendent Dr. Michael Lonze. “She is a supportive, dedicated, and compassionate leader who cares deeply about her students, staff, parents and the Meadowbrook community.”

“Not only is Mrs. VanWagnen an amazing leader at her school, but she is also a valuable resource to her fellow colleagues,” added Lonze. “I look forward to continuing to work with her as she leads her Meadowbrook Mustangs.”
